Pekes tend to be picky about their food and treats. They may even turn away from their favorite treats if they sense something is not right. You can't buy their love!
Energetic
As puppies, they'll keep you on your toes. As they grow older, their energy comes in spurts. Some Pekes even like to play fetch for hours, just like Samantha.
Kind
Pekes are very sweet. They tend to prefer the company of adults. Pekes can be skittish around children who are full of energy and unpredictable with their movements. Not every Peke is the same so you'll need to see what environment works best.
Intelligent
Very smart little dogs that choose what they want to learn. Refer to Picky and Sassy.
Nosy
Although they may act nonchalant, they can't resist a good secret. Next time your Peke is being indifferent, go ahead and hide one of their toys, or even yourself. Before you can finish, they'll be right next to you wondering what's going on.
Genuine
What you see is what you get. They will love you unconditionally and are fiercely loyal, especially towards the person they have deemed most worthy of their love and affection.
Entitled
They think they are the center of the universe (as they should). They generally need a fair amount of attention or they will go off and pout. You don't want to be on the receiving end of a sad Peke.
Sassy
What they lack in size, they make up in attitude. Whether refusing to give you the satisfaction of a pat or wag of the tail, they will make sure you know what they are thinking.
Endearing
Hard to resist their cute faces and their expressive nature. At the end of the day, they will melt your heart.
